They were returning to Shreveport from a small duck hunting lake in close proximity to Lake Charles, Louisiana, in a Grumman Mallard aircraft without deicing procedure. The wings iced up on approach to landing in Shreveport, along with the aircraft lost altitude. One of the wings hit cypress stumps along with the airplane crashed versus the shore.
